Washington Post Labs

Visualizing reading habits

WaPo Labs approached Graphicacy to develop concepts for visualizing reading habits on the Washington Post Social Reader, a Facebook-based social reading application (now called “Trove.”) The goal: create graphic user profiles that would show reading habits in a visually compelling way.

A streamgraph was chosen because of its visual elegance and interactive flexibility. This visualization style also works well as an organizing principle for time-based content.
