Our Future, Together
The Center for American Progress, a progressive think tank, recently published an important research paper about immigration and the future U.S. economy. We created a video and four interactives to make this vast subject surprising, concrete, and memorable for policy makers and voters.
We likened the US economy to an oak tree in our motion graphics video; robust yet always changing. To explore the data, we created companion interactives: pyramid charts (below), a tool used to help predict youth booms and busts with attendant consequences; a tree map, for packing lots of data in a small space; a line graph, to show trends; and a streamgraph, to explore waves of immigrants over time in the context of laws that encouraged or discouraged their arrival in the US.
